Congratulations are in order for the Lake Highlands High School Speech and Debate team and their coach, Hunter Wood, as they will be attending Nationals later in June in Indianapolis. The team swept through the district tournament by winning both Speech and Debate and had the most wins of any school in the tournament.

Lake Highlands will have three teams competing in separate events at Nationals:

• Public Forum Debate: Mac McCann and Jake Gaba; Emily Weaver and Sasha Butt
• Lincoln Douglas Debate: Angel Munoz
• Duo Interpretation: Carly Kaplan and Isabel Pask

At the district level, the team members also came away with multiple individual awards. Mac McCann placed first in Original Oratory; Jake Gaba placed first in Dramatic Interpretation; Isabel Pasik placed fourth in Dramatic Interpretation; Carly Kaplan placed second in Humorous Interpretation.
