The C.C. Young Board of Directors has announced on Tuesday, July 3 that President and CEO Kent Shields will retire from the organization on July 1, 2013. Shields has been with C.C. Young for 17 years; his replacement will be Russell Crews, who is currently the CFO at C.C. Young.

Shields joined C.C. Young after spending 25 years in the United States Air Force and reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He joined C.C. Young in the summer of 1995 as an intern and rose quickly through the ranks. Before becoming CEO and President, Shields was an Administrator of Assisted Services, Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer.

"Seventeen years ago, I began my tenure with C.C. Young and during my tenure, C.C. Young has been recognized as a national leader in retirement care and lifestyle," said Shields. "More importantly, C.C. Young has helped thousands of residents and seniors in the Dallas area, as well as their families. C.C. Young is a visionary organization that is a leader in quality senior care and it has been an honor to work with the organization's dedicated employees, board of directors and volunteers. I am happy to have been a small part of its history."
