Norman Watts Meador passed away on Saturday, July 7 and his memorial service is being held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10 at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, July 9 at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Meador was born in Breckenridge, Texas on September 16, 1925 to R.V. and Eglantine Meador. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II from 1944 to 1946 and was a member of the Army from 1949 to 1951. After leaving the military, Meador earned a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering from The University of Arkansas. Then, for 27 years, Meador worked for Western Electric in three different states before finally retiring and settling down in Texas.

Meador spent much of his time and energy with the Boy Scouts of America and was particularly involved with Boy Scout Troop 890 - based in his Lake Highlands community. He dedicated 43 years to the Boy Scouts - attending camp outs, Eagle Boards, at meetings and anywhere else he was needed. For his work and dedication, he was honored by the construction of a pavilion at Camp Constantine in his name.

Meador is survived by his wife Jean Meador; his son, Scott Meador; stepchildren: James Moon, Jeanette Bouse, Jeannine Shutt and Thomas Moon; eight grandchildren: Chandra Mosley, Jamie Athanasion, Jimmy Moon, Catie Moon, Austin Bouse, Michael Shutt, Allyson Shutt, Liana Meador; and his four great-grandchildren: Brandy, Maggie, Alayna and James.
