This year’s festivities will include the debut of their most popular seasonal lager\, Punkel\, this time in an all-new can. On September 2nd\, the North Texas brewery\, taproom\, and beergarden wil l offer a dynamic lineup of activities including an official steinholding competition\, hammer stump (ask a northerner)\, beer poking\, live polka- ified rock covers with The Dogensteins\, and more! \nPartygoers will have the chance to witness the ultimate display of strength and endurance in t he half-liter steinholding qualifying tournament. These iconic steins\, we igh an impressive five pounds (with the stein itself contributing three po unds). Lakewood Brewing Co. proudly serves as one of the exclusive USSA St einholding State Championship tournament qualifying venues in DFW. The cha mpionship finals are scheduled for Saturday\, October 21st at Altstadt. He re\, champions from both the men's and women's categories will compete for the prestigious title and a prize of $500. \nPolka entertainment will be provided by The Dogensteins\, a self-proclaimed rock band with an accordi on twist. Attendees can enjoy a variety of eats including Lakewood’s Bavar ian pretzel and brats from Smoke 'n Bone. Admission is free with an option al paid Punktoberfest package that includes a commemorative Punkel stein\, two stein fills\, and a Bavarian pretzel for $25. \nPunkel was one of the first local pumpkin-inspired beers and is Lakewood’s longest and most pop ular seasonal.
