Rowing Camps for Middle School and High School Students to be held in June and July

DALLAS, April 25, 2016 – Dallas United Crew will host rowing camps at White Rock Lake this summer for middle school and high school students. Campers will learn basic rowing techniques, water and boating safety, and the importance of teamwork. No previous rowing experience is necessary.

Dallas United will offer two, three-week camp sessions and a series of one-week camps in June and July. Dallas United Crew is a 501(c) 3 non-profit rowing organization based on White Rock Lake that has programs for people of all ages and abilities.

“Rowing is the oldest intercollegiate sport in the United States and offers one of the greatest scholarship opportunities for student athletes,” said Rebecca George, Dallas United camp director. “We are always excited to introduce new students to this unique sport, and the summer camps are the perfect opportunity to demonstrate what participation with Dallas United would be during a normal school year. Following completion of the camps, the students will be invited to join Dallas United's fall and spring rowing programs, which can become a great opportunity for their future.”

"Summer Camp with Dallas United really ignited my passion for rowing," said Novice team member and Lakehill Preparatory Student, Anders Ekstrom. "We learned proper rowing technique in a fun, outdoor environment, so we were well prepared to work together once we were in the boats. This knowledge has served me well on the Novice team this year."
