Lake Highlands High School has hired Kyle Horne to replace Dave Carter as the head coach of the swim team. Lake Highlands principal Peggy Dillon has confirmed the hiring.

Horne was previously the head coach of the Houston Cypress Ridge High School swim team. He'll have big shoes to fill, as Carter had a successful tenure during his time with Lake Highlands. In 2011, he was named District 10-5A Girls Coach of the Year.

Horne attended the University of Texas and was a member of the Longhorns' swim team. During his time at Cypress Ridge, he was also the head coach of The Lakes on Eldridge Swim Team, which is a non-profit organization that fields and supports a competitive summer league swim team.

On the LOE website, Horne states, "Through hard work and dedication, I believe any swimmer is capable of reaching their desired goals. I feel successful when I help swimmers having fun while in pursuit of excellence."
