Although Halloween and Thanksgiving have yet to be celebrated, people are already starting to look towards the winter holidays. Gifts are being bought, homes are being decorated and even the Texas weather is getting cooler. The Lake Highlands Women’s League is also getting into the festivities with the announcement of their 33rd Annual Home Tour and Holiday Market, aptly named “Holiday in the Highlands”.

The Home Tour and Holiday Market isn’t just another event to get Lake Highlands ready for the winter holidays. The Home Tour is the Lake Highlands Women’s League largest fundraiser, most of which provides funds for scholarships for Lake Highlands students and benefits community projects.

The Home Tour and Market is scheduled for Friday, December 2 and will begin at 9:30 a.m. The tour will consist of four, beautifully decorated homes in the Lake Highlands area that should put all guests in the holiday spirit. Concurrently, the holiday market will be taking place at Highland Oaks Church of Christ from 9:30 a.m. till 1:30 p.m.

The Lake Highlands Women’s League unites and promotes the Lake Highlands area through service to the community. Each active member of the organization volunteers at least four times every year at one or more of the many service project provided. In all, the organization gives back 800 volunteer hours every year to Lake Highlands.

The Women’s League is also responsible for helping many Lake Highlands students receiving scholarships to attend college. Over the past 39 years, the Lake Highlands Women’s League has given $1,228,000 in college scholarships. Last year, the Women’s League gave approximately $170,000 in student scholarships and community projects.

Tickets to the event are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. In addition, the event also offers a luncheon at the same site as the holiday market. Luncheon tickets are $12 and must be purchased in advance. To learn more or to purchase tickets, visit the Lake Highlands Women’s League website.
