Anyone who is suffering from a hair or scalp related issue, including hair loss and patches of baldness or scaly disorders, is invited to attend a clinic next week to receive a free diagnosis of the problem.

Elite Emage, a hair enhancement center in Dallas, will be hosting a free clinic to assess hair problems. Open to the public by appointment from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 11-16 at the center, which is located at 1409 S. Lamar, Suite 205.

At the clinic, students who are aspiring to become Trichologists — a hair and scalp specialist — will be diagnosing hair problems on patients under the supervision of a professional in order to complete their certification training.

“We are going to see about 20 to 25 patients a day,” said Rodney Barnett, a Certified Trichologist who is the director at Elite Emage. “We opened the clinic to the public for free, so the students will have an opportunity to diagnose issues on patients.”

Each diagnosis will be done on an individual basis and will take about 20 minutes per patient. During the diagnosis, the patient will have their hair and scalp examined externally and will not be required to provide a blood or saliva sample.

David Salinger, the director of the International Association of Trichologists, will be conducting the clinic and supervising the students who will be diagnosing the hair and scalp problems.

The clinic is happens twice a year in Dallas at Elite Emage, and the last clinic was hosted in April.

After receiving a diagnosis, patients will have an opportunity to schedule a follow-up appointment for a more in-depth assessment to determine the factors causing their hair or scalp issues and receive specialized treatments to fix the problem.
