In order to increase school security and provide better protection for students, Richardson ISD will soon be implementing a new system called Raptorware V-soft (Raptor) and a new set of visitor and volunteer management guidelines.

The Raptor system will go live beginning March 19. All visitors to any Richardson ISD school or facility will need to have a government issued photo identification card to gain admittance. The system will better allow RISD staff to track visitors and volunteers as they enter and leave RISD buildings.

Acceptable forms of identification include a driver's license, state identification card, passport, concealed handgun license, military identification card, government identification card, police or firefighter identification, or Homeland Security-approved identification card.

The Raptor system will be installed at all schools the week of February 17-24. When visitors arrive at a campus, the front office will scan their ID with the Raptor system. The visitor or volunteer will then be issued a badge that is to be worn at all times during the campus visit. When the visitor leaves the facility, the badge should be returned to the front office.

Raptor will identify any person who is a registered sex offender or otherwise restricted from being on campus. The system will alert district staff, and an administrator will decide whether or not to allow the visitor access to the facility.

For those with any questions or concerns regarding the Raptor system, please contact the principal of your child's school.
