The Lake Highlands area will represented at the Dallas County Public Schools Spelling Bee by Kendall Powers from Lake Highlands Junior High. Powers won her school spelling bee and then won a district spelling bee with a final word of 'Niagra'. If Powers is unable to attend, the alternate from the Lake Highlands area would be Annie Hutton from White Rock Elementary.

Four RISD students:

  • Cynthia Corsiga - Yale Elementary - Berkner area
  • Kendall Powers - Lake Highlands Junior High - Lake Highlands area
  • Richard Li - Brentfield Elementary - Pearce area
  • Julia Ukattah - Heights Elementary - Richardson area

Four RISD alternate students:

  • Camille Fontenot - Big Springs Elementary - Berkner area
  • Annie Hutton - White Rock Elementary - Lake Highlands area
  • Omar Itani - Parkhill Elementary - Pearce area
  • Paloma Renteria - Arapaho Classical Magnet - Richardson area

The Dallas County Public Schools Spelling Bee will take place at the University of Texas at Dallas on Thursday, February 9.
