The City of Dallas will be sending out its insecticide trucks to the White Rock Lake area on Wednesday, August 1 to deal with the continuing mosquito and West Nile Virus problem. As of the latest count, there are 42 confirmed human cases of West Nile Virus and 69 mosquito pools that have tested positive as well.

The section of White Rock Lake that will be sprayed is bounded on the north by Mockingbird Lane, on the west by Williamson Road and on the south and east by West Lawther Road. The spraying will begin on Wednesday, August 1 at 10:00 p.m. and will continue until 3:00 a.m.

The insecticide is considered safe but the city still cautions residents in the spray area to remain indoors during the spraying hours. Trucks on the road should keep their windows closed and air conditioners on and should not follow the spraying trucks if they encounter them. Pets should be brought indoors and any contact with the insecticide should be washed thoroughly with soap and water.
