There is a great opportunity awaiting any children that dream of becoming police officers when they're grown up. The Dallas Junior Police Academy is now accepting applications between the month of August 20 to September 20 for its November 3 session.

The Dallas Junior Police Academy is for children from fourth grade to seventh grade. Each session will last the entire day and attendees will be immersed in a world of new experiences. They'll receive instructions from recruit trainers, and they'll be challenged with decision-making, an obstacle course and physical training. All of this will give the kids a taste of what it's like to be a Dallas Police Academy recruit.

In addition, the recruits will get to meet the specialized units of the Dallas Police Department: K-9, Mounted Unit, SWAT team, Motorcycle Officers and Helicopter Unit. Officers from each unit will explain how they combat crime and what they do on a daily basis.

To apply for the November 3 session, kids will need to visit the Dallas Police website and print out an application. Children that are accepted will be notified by either mail or email. Parents are responsible for registering their child the morning of the session and picking up their kids at the end of the day.
