Despite the heat, the Lake Highlands community came out in droves on Tuesday evening, August 7, to attend the annual National Night Out event at White Rock Elementary School. The event generally attracts around 800 attendees every year and is fun for both adults and kids.

Kids were able to bounce around in the bounce houses, take a ride on a pony and cool down with a snow cone. Parents, on the other hand, had the opportunity to visit with members of the Dallas Police Department and Fire-Rescue Department and learn some crucial information and advice on home and community safety. And, of course, everyone was very excited when a Dallas Police helicopter landed in the fields nearby.
