Everyone deserves some time off to be with friends and family during the holidays and that also includes the men and women who work for the City of Dallas. Most of the city's facilities and services will be closed on Sunday for Christmas and a few will also be closed the Monday afterwards.

Dallas libraries will be remain open until Friday, December 23 and then will be closed from the 24th until the 26th. The libraries will also be closed on Monday, January 2. Recreation Centers will be closed on Christmas and New Year's but will remain open on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Municipal golf courses, tennis centers and the Elm Fork Gun Range will also be closed on Christmas Day.

Dallas' animal shelters wil be closed for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's. However, staff will be available to answer priority emergency calls in the field such as bites, vicious animals and trapped/confined animals. All animal-related calls will be handled through the 3-1-1 customer help line. Residents can also report water main breaks, downed trees/limbs, disabled signal lights and other emergencies to the 3-1-1 number.

The administrative offices for Dallas Police and Fire-Rescue will be closed on Christmas Day but the police officers and firefighters will continue to operate on a normal schedule. Any residents unfortunate enough to receive a citation during the winter holidays will not be able to plead their case in court on December 23, 24, 26 or 31.
