Forest Meadow Junior High students played a big role in helping to feed the hunger and less fortunate this past Thanksgiving holiday by collecting more than 2,000 cans, boxes and bags of food for the annual Gobble Goods food drive. All together, the donations collected weighed more than 1,700 pounds.

The Forest Meadow student council led the charge on this great endeavor. The food drive helped benefit The Network of Community Ministries as well as the school's own pantry. After fully stocking the school pantry, Forest Meadow was still able to give a sizable donation of 1,645 pounds to The Network.

"A lot of campuses do this, but our campus has a good mix of students - some are really well off but others have a need," said Carisa Niemeyer, a Forest Meadow choir teacher and co-sponsor of the Student Council.

While collecting for the food drive, students were able to learn about food insecurity and what it means to be in need of assistance.

"Other people need help - we'll always be glad to help," said eighth grader Luke Garwood, the treasurer for the Forest Meadow student council.
