Janie Christy School of Dance, a staple in the Lake Highlands community, will be closing its doors after 19 years of passing on the gift of dancing to its students. The owner, Janie Christy, writes on her website that she would like to spend more time with her husband, grandchildren and the rest of her family.

However, while Christy will be closing her studio, she will continue to be a teacher of dance. She will be joining the staff at The Dallas Ballet Center beginning with fall lessons. The Dallas Ballet Center will merge the classes, schedules and students of the Janie Christy School of Ballet with its own.
