The Richardson ISD Excellence in Education Foundation honored Forest Meadow Junior High math teacher Lauren Denison this past week for her commitment to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). She was awarded the Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in STEM Teaching Award.

The Foundation and Texas Instruments, along with RISD superintendent Dr. Kay Waggoner and assistant superintendent Bob DeVoll honored Denison in her class. She received a $10,000 grant - half for personal use and half for classroom use - and will be honored at the annual Foundation awards gala.

Denison has been teaching at Forest Meadow Junior High for six years and is also a TAP Mentor Teacher, mentors AVID students and has taken part in working on curriculum and staff development.
