Back in 1982, Pete Columbo opened Alfonso's Italian restaurant on October 1 in the still growing Lake Highlands community. A lot has changed about Lake Highlands in 30 years but Columbo's unpretentious neighborhood restaurant has remained a rock for the area and for its residents.

Now, as Alfonso's Italian restaurant nears its 30th anniversary, Columbo is throwing a month-long celebration with specials at his restaurant beginning on September 15. On the date of the actual anniversary, the restaurant will revert all its menu prices back to the original 1982 menu for two days - Monday, October 1 and Tuesday, October 2.

Alfonso's Italian restauarant originated in Casa Linda Plaza and was eventually moved to its current location off Buckner Boulevard in 1991.
