A Lake Highlands family already dealing with a family crisis suffered another one earlier this month when the propane tank in their back yard exploded and burned a portion of their home, making their home unlivable.

Diana Wenzel is on her second bout, fighting cancer. She and her husband Dan spent most of the summer at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, but wanted to return home to Lake Highlands to finish her treatment in Dallas.

However, the family suffered another crisis on August 2 when the propane tank on their back porch exploded, causing catastrophic damage to their home. The fire is under investigation.

Fortunately, Lake Highlands is a very close-knit community and neighbors and friends have shown their support. A neighbor of the Wenzel family has set up an online fund to help the family with their medical bills and the rebuilding of their home.
