In the state of Texas, one thing that just about every community can gather around is high school football. It's a good opportunity for friends and family to meet up, hang out and watch the next generation of football talent play on the gridiron.

The Lake Highlands High School Athletic Department has released the 2012 football schedule so the public can circle the game days on their calendars. As usual, the team plays 10 games with five of them being played at Wildcat/Ram stadium. All games will be played at 7:30 p.m.

The first three games are non-district games: Mesquite High School, Plano West High School and Rowlett High School. Following the three non-district games, the district games begin, and Lake Highlands will start off with their biggest rival: Richardson Berkner High School. The following game is against football powerhouse Skyline High School and will also be the Homecoming game.

The final five games will be against, in order, Richardson, Jesuit, Sunset, Pearce and W.T. White.

Last year, Lake Highlands started off the season slowly but picked up enough steam at the end to make it into the playoffs. However, their momentum grounded to a halt against Rowlett High School in the playoffs. They finished the season with a 5-6 record.
