Playing At Spring Tea

You may have heard the exciting and thought-provoking sermons by Senior Co-Pastors, Steve and Debbie Chisolm of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) either in the sanctuary at Sunday worship or on the radio on WRR (101.1 F.M.) on Sunday mornings.  But did you know that the music at Central is equally as moving and inspiring?

The talented vocalists and musicians of the Chancel Choir, under the direction of David Aston produce a magnificent musical ministry.  A special guest musician has been selected to perform during each Sunday of Advent in the series “The Miracle of Christmas.”

Central particularly takes pleasure in featuring gifted young musicians and on the third Sunday of Advent, December 14, Rosie Ninesling will play the violin during morning worship.

Ninesling has been playing the violin since she was in the third grade and she recalled that her love for the instrument was actually seeded at Central.

Ninesling decided that she wanted to play violin after she attended a concert at Central  with her mother when she was a young child.

“I can't remember the details, but I remember seeing a violin up close for the first time. It blew my mind! I told my mom that night that I wanted to be a violinist...and here I am,” Ninesling said.

This December will not be the young musician’s first performance at Central.  She played at the church’s 150th anniversary celebration last October and again at the 2014 Spring Tea honoring senior congregation members who are no longer able to attend church on a regular basis.

Today Ninesling is a freshman at the University of North Texas where she is majoring in English. She loves to write and says she keeps a lot of journals.  One of her favorite classes at UNT is her 20th century music class.

In addition to playing the violin, Ninesling enjoys listening to music, reading poetry, swimming and her dog, Zoe.

Zoe, “100 percent mutt and 100 percent sweet” according to Ninesling is not necessarily her mistresses’ biggest fan, though.

“Whenever I would start to practice the violin around Zoe she would find a place to hide,” Ninesling said.

Not so the case at Central Christian Church— the congregation is looking forward to hearing Ninesling as she performs Christmas arrangements on December 14th during Sunday worship.

Central Christian church is located at 4711 Westside Dr. in Dallas.  Sunday worship is at 11 a.m.   All are welcome to come and experience “The Miracle of Christmas and the Miracle of Music” as Central celebrates the 3rd Sunday of Advent.
