White Rock Elementary School is calling on parents and the residents of Lake Highlands to support the school and the students during their 50th anniversary this fall. The school is in the middle of throwing a fundraiser, aptly named $50 for 50 (years), in celebration of the event.

The school has decided to forgo wrapping paper and passbooks in favor of doing a check writing campaign. Selling wrapping paper and passbooks nets schools only a portion of the proceeds but with a check writing campaign, all of the donations go directly towards the school.

The school has a lofty goal of $20,000 but is currently short by $4,000. The reason the school needs such a large amount is because of Richardson ISD budget cuts. The money raised would go towards multiple school programs, including Arts in Education, Field Day, Library Services and Special & Gifted Education.

If interested in making a donation, contact the White Rock Elementary PTA for more information. Any and all donations will go towards making White Rock Elementary a successful place for students to learn and develop.
