Lake Highlands High School (4-3, 3-1) was unable to finish off its comeback in the fourth quarter and lost to rival Richardson Berkner High School (4-3, 2-2) on Friday, October 14, by a final score of 16-13. The loss drops the Wildcats to third place in the district behind Skyline and Jesuit.

Lake Highlands, which typically utilizes a strong running game to wear down the opposing defense, went away from that against the Rams and instead turned to the passing game. Quarterback Micheal Ketchmark tossed 15 passes - 10 for completions - for 133 yards through the air. Five different receivers caught at least one pass, including Michael Wright, who caught a single pass from running back DeVonte Sunwenghan but ran it 53 yards for a touchdown.

Sunwenghan carried the Wildcats on his back and very nearly won them the game. Not only was his single passing attempt good for a touchdown, he also ran the ball into the endzone in the fourth quarter to bring Lake Highlands within three. However, that was the closest the Wildcats were able to get before time ran out.

Berkner quarterback, Yedidiah Louis, only completed five passes for 85 yards, but he also ran the ball 33 times for 185 yards and two touchdowns.

Lake Highlands has the toughest stretch of its schedule coming up in the next two weeks. First, the Wildcats welcome district No. 2 Jesuit to Wildcat-Ram Stadium on Friday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. Then, Lake Highlands will have to travel to Forester Stadium to play undefeated Skyline on Friday, October 28.
