Half Price Books kicked off its 2019 HPB Book Club with a special event with author Stephanie Land on Thursday, Jan. 31 at Wilshire Baptist Church. Land discussed her new book, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive, the February/March HPB Book Club pick, before signing books for more than 80 attendees. A portion of the proceeds from this ticketed event benefitted CitySquare, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting the causes and effects of poverty through service, advocacy and friendship.

Maid is an inspirational and deeply moving autobiography of a mother who tenaciously strives to provide a better life for her daughter. The bookdebuted at number three on the New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction list. Half Price Books will discuss the book online at www.hpb.com/bookclub through the end of March. Signed copies are available at the Dallas Flagship, while supplies last.
