The Lake Highlands Mock Trial Team Placed 9th at the Texas State Mock Trial State Championship this weekend held at the George Allen Courthouse in Dallas. Having competed against 26 other schools from around the state who had also won their respective regions, Lake Highlands lived up to its slogan—“You Can’t Cross Us.”
Individual attorneys, Nicole Clifford and Gabe Olivo were each awarded outstanding advocate awards in two separate rounds. Lydia Arthur received an outstanding witness award in two rounds, as did Kellie Henderson and Sheila Tume in one round each.
The LHHS State Competition Team consists of attorneys: Gabe Olivo, Nicole Clifford, Rebeca Contreras, Angela Landry, Loretta David and witnesses: Kellie Henderson, Zoe Rose, Sheila Tume, Daniel Watson, Lydia Arthur and Nicole Clifford.
The Lake Highlands Mock Trial Team is lead by captains: Gabe Olivo, Nicole Clifford, Rebeca Contreras and Sammy Bugni, as well as witness captain Kellie Henderson.
The team is coached by Kim Elkjer, JD. and Kristen Gavigan, JD. The LHHS teacher sponsor is Xavier Mitchell. And the team is enthusiastically supported by former sponsors Tracey Bishkin, Casey Boland and Candice Nichols.
