Last Saturday, March 23, the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands held its annual Casino Night and Auction at Park Lane Ranch.

This event is a key fundraiser for the club, enabling it to benefit the Lake Highlands community. Among other causes, the funds raised are used toward the club’s annual scholarship program for seniors at Lake Highlands High School, as well as for the club’s grants to several non-profit organizations benefiting the Lake Highlands community, such as Healing Hands Ministries, Family Compass and the Lake Highlands YMCA.

As usual, the food and atmosphere at the event was great. Each guest was given or purchased play chips and was able to participate in various casino games such as blackjack, craps and roulette. The night also featured a wine pull where guests purchased a chance to randomly select from an assortment of wines. At the end of the night, each guest was able to exchange his or her chips for tickets in a raffle drawing for many great prizes.

While the casino games were going on, the guests were able to bid on many items in a silent auction. Later in the evening, attention turned to an exciting live auction for more valuable items.

Club President Jon Alspaw commented: “As an organization, we are excited to be able to put on a fun annual event for our neighbors and at the same time raise funds in order to allow our club to continue benefiting the community. We had a great attendance again this year, and while we will have to wait until the final numbers come in, it looks like we did very well for the community again this year.”

The Casino Night and Auction is one of two major Lake Highlands community fund raising events the Exchange Club puts on each year, along with the third edition of Oktoberfest coming October 5.
