Several members of the Episcopal School of Dallas crew team will compete in USRowing Youth National Championships after clinching first place at the Central Youth Rowing Championships in early May. The men’s varsity 4x, comprised of Tate Curington '15, Liam Herrick '15, Jakesy Jordaan '14, and Michael McCrory '14, as well as the women’s lightweight 2x of Caroline Brennan '14 and Emma Jenevein '15 will attend the race in Oak Ridge, Tennessee in June.

Both boats qualified for the regatta after winning first and second place, respectively, in Oklahoma City. The team as a whole brought home five gold, four silver, and two bronze medals, bringing their season total to 31 gold, 33 silver, and 23 bronze.

Leading up to the national-qualifying race, the men’s varsity 4x won races at the Texas Rowing Championships in Austin in April, as well as the Head of the Colorado Regatta in Austin in October. This summer, Jenevein, Jordaan, McCrory, and Patrick will also attend the U.S. Junior National Team’s West Coast Sculling Development Camp. A strong showing at the camp could land the athletes a spot on the U.S. Junior National Rowing Team.

The entire ESD team, including the freshman junior 4x of Ford Berry, Josiah Hamid-Khani, Jack Knowles, and Julius Stener will travel to Philadelphia later this month for their final race of the season at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta on May 17 and 18. Started in 1927, the Stotesbury Cup Regatta is the largest high school rowing regatta in the world and hosts more than 5,000 competitors from the United States and Canada every year.

Two more athletes from ESD will also be competing at the USRowing Youth National Championships with Founders Rowing Club. Sisters Cat Turner '13 and CeCe Turner '14 won the women’s varsity 2x at the Central Youth District Rowing Championships to qualify for the national competition. The team of Cat and CeCe Turner, Laura Lynn De Loache '14, and Kendall DeSantis '15 placed fourth in the women’s youth varsity 4x at regionals.
