Lake Highlands Marching Band doing their part to help victims of Texas fires

The Lake Highlands High School band is pitching in to help fellow bands that have been affected by the wildfires that have blazed all over Texas in the recent weeks. The Wildcats are "adopting" the Smithville and Bastrop bands in an effort to assist their band students and families.

The directors of the band are calling for the residents of Lake Highlands to help out and donate some essentials that the bands and their families desperately need as they fight to recover from the fires. The bands don't need food, water or clothes, but some of the other essentials they need are:

  • Gift cards to Walmart, Home Depot and/or Visa
  • Cash will be collected and distributed between the two band programs
  • Toiletry items
  • Household cleaning items: trash bags, trash cans, cleaning supplies
  • Instruments that are no longer being used; many students no longer have instruments!
  • Reeds, flip folders, mouthpieces, valve oil, slide grease metronomes/tuners

The band will be collecting the above items throughout the next two weeks and hope to deliver the supplies by next weekend. This is a good chance for people that want to help the fire victims but don't know where the start.
