The city of Dallas is in the midst of the 2011 redistricting process and for a while, it seemed like the Lake Highlands community was on the verge of being broken up into three different districts. cPlan16 - or Unity Map - which was drawn up by Redistricting Commission member Domingo Garcia had strong support from several other commissioners.

But, the Lake Highlands community, as it did with the Trader Joe's petition, rose together to voice their opinion as one. After taking the fight to City Hall and through email, Garcia has decided to alter his Unity Map to keep the community largely intact.
