• Let Go or Be Dragged.  Facing Addiction in Your Family and Friends

  This Zen proverb speaks to those who are experiencing addiction in a friend or family member. Explore the 3 C’s of recovery.  You may have heard them before, “You didn’t cause it, you can’t control it and you can’t cure it.”  But what can you do?  What does healthy support look like?  How do you take care of you in the process?  Join Kimberly and family members she has worked with to find solutions that will work for you and your loved ones.

  This panel discussion will address mindfulness from the perspective of spirituality, cultural barriers and how to regain mindfulness in our everyday lives.
• Waking the Dead: Four Secrets to Discovering the Hidden Potential In Life’s Most Common Struggles (CEU)
  Dr. David Henderson, board certified psychiatrist, author, speaker and the Director of Counseling and Psychology at Criswell College in Dallas, TX. Also serves as an adjunct professor at Dallas Theological Seminary.
  This presentation highlights the presuppositions that are necessary to accept in order to find purpose in, through and beyond the painful circumstances of their lives.
• Intervening on the Interveners (CEU)
  Sonny McCutcheon, LCDC, LAC, Founder of Recovery Alternatives
  The key to any successful intervention lies in detailed, comprehensive planning and preparations.  This workshop will focus on how to galvanize and energize a team of family, friends, and colleagues to plan, develop and execute a successful and effective plan of intervention to treatment for the afflicted person. Topics will include: How to assess the presenting problem and appropriateness for intervention; how to select the intervention team; determining clinically and financially appropriate treatment programs; selecting the intervention meeting location; making a final decision on the treatment provider; and establishing contingency plans.
• Young Adult Men; Trends, Recognizing Signs and Symptoms (CEU)
  Heather Nolan, LMSW, Lead Young Adult Male Counselor, Caron Texas
  This will be a collaborative presentation on the common signs and symptoms of drug use among young adult men and treatment strategies.
