RISD PTAs Back The Future

The Texas PTA's “Back the Future” campaign is in full swing, and the Richardson ISD (RISD) Council of PTAs recently kicked off the fun at their Back the Future Day Kick-off Extravaganza.

Volunteers from schools all over the district were there learning about their new roles for the year and got excited about serving their campuses and students.

Participants got to watch and sing along with a kick-off concert followed with a proclamation from the Richardson Mayor Laura Maczka. The RISD School Board President Karen Holburn also spoke giving kudos to all who support the RISD students and staff.

Marni Kaner, RISD Council of PTAs president, traveled around the district with campaign signs getting volunteers and teachers alike to "back the future."

"The theme 'Back the Future' centers on our belief that an investment in the education of Texas children is an investment in our communities’ future," Kaner explained.

"I'm excited to have the support of all members of our RISD community because without YOU there is no CommYOUnity!"

With school back in session, we’re reminded what PTA stands for and how families, teachers, students and others can be involved. Those behind the campaign are hoping the community gets involved as well.

The PTA is inviting not only families, teachers and students, but community members of all walks of life to “Back the Future” by becoming a PTA member and joining in the celebration of the start of the 2014-2015 school year.

Even if you don’t have a student in one of the RISD schools, you can still support those students who are enrolled by becoming a member of your neighborhood school or a PTA Angel which allows you to join a feeder pattern of schools.

You can learn more about PTA Angels and joining the PTA by visit the RISD Council of PTAs’ website at www.risdpta.org or "like" the group's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/risdpta.
