After last week's big-time upset over Plano West Senior High School, the Lake Highlands football squad is riding atop a massive wave of momentum heading into their final non-district game of the year. The Wildcats won't need any extra motivation either, as they're taking on Rowlett High School, who knocked Lake Highlands out of the playoffs in the first round last year.

Last week, Lake Highlands won by dominating the time of possession and keeping the ball out of the hands of the Plano West offense. Quarterback Trent Jones and running back Elbert Landry both eclipsed over 100 yards rushing. Jones had 164 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries while Landry racked up 119 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

Against the high-powered Plano West aerial attack, the Lake Highlands secondary bent but didn't break. Plano West quarterback Zach Norris completed 15 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns, but the Wildcats held at crucial points that prevented the game from becoming a shoot-out.

Against Rowlett, the Lake Highlands defense will again have to contend with a quarterback that likes to air it out. Quarterback Carson Hyles has completed 35 passes for 479 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. However, Rowlett also has a dangerous runner in Derrick Imade to complement their aerial attack. Imade has 246 yards and four touchdowns on 35 carries so far this year.

The game will be held at Garland's H.B. Johnson Stadium on Friday, September 14. Kick-off for the game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
