The Lake Highlands High School baseball team's run through the playoffs came to an abrupt end at the hands of Temple High School this weekend in UIL Area Round of the playoffs. The Wildcats couldn't get anything going offensively and the defense couldn't stop the Temple bats from scoring.

Lake Highlands looked good in the first game of ths series. The offense had given pitcher Hudson Taylor a two-run lead and things were looking good until it all fell apart in the fifth inning. Taylor gave up several big base hits, including a two-run triple that sealed the game for Temple. They would go on to win the game, 4-2, and take the first game of the series.

If the first game of the series was close and tense, then the second game was the exact opposite. Temple pitcher Brandon Gamboa put on a one-man show with two 3-run home runs and a dominant performance on the mound that included 11 strikeouts and only four hits. Temple won the game, 10-1, and swept the series in two games.
