Although there haven't been any reported attacks recently, residents that live near White Rock Lake should keep in mind that while they do live in a large, metropolitan city, they also still live very close to nature. Large coyotes have been sighted almost nightly at Flag Pole Hill and while they don't pose a threat to an adult human, but the same can't be said about pets.

Coyotes, on average, don't grow much bigger than large dogs but they're feral and will attack and kill smaller animals for food. A resident in the Lake Ridge Estates neighborhood recently reported that their family pet was killed on the front lawn, supposedly by coyotes.

Make sure to take precautions to ensure the safety of pets. Outdoor cats should be brought in before dusk and all pets, if taken outside, should be on a leash and supervised. With wild animals like coyotes, it's much better to be safe than sorry.
