At the next general PTA meeting for Lake Highlands Junior High, there will be a presentation and Q&A session regarding the switch from Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) to State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR).

The meeting is set for Monday, November 7 in the LHJH Auditorium and will feature two guest speakers from the District. Mrs. Sandy Brehm - Director of Assessment for RISD - and Dr. Terry Harris - Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction for RISD - will be presenting on the new STAAR program.

The PTA will also be selecting its nominating committee to slate the PTA officers for the 2012-2013 board. While the nominating committee will not meet until January, the PTA's next general meeting won't be until February, so the committee has to be finalized at this meeting.
