Emotions will be running high and pride will be on the line when Lake Highlands High School takes on Berkner High School on Friday, October 14. The two schools are bitter rivals and share the same stadium - Wildcat-Ram Stadium. However, for this game, it might more appropriate to go with the stadium's nickname - The Boneyard.

The Wildcats have won the last four meetings between the two teams. Last year was a tightly contested affair that went back and forth for the first three quarters before Lake Highlands scored the only points in the fourth quarter to take the victory, 27-21.

Lake Highlands currently sits second in the district rankings behind undefeated Skyline High School. The Wildcats have an overall record of 4-2 and are undefeated (3-0) in conference play. Berkner is sitting one game back of Lake Highlands overall with a 3-3 record but are only 1-2 in conference play.

The Wildcats' victory will depend on the legs of their running backs. For the beginning of the season, DeVonte Sunwengham carried the load for the team and currently has 341 yards rushing and six touchdowns. He is also the leading receiver on the team with 13 catches for 147 yards and a touchdown. Sunwengham has since been overtaken by Jacobi Johnson, who has rushed for 467 yards and five touchdowns. Elbert Landry is the third leading rusher on the team with 235 yards and three touchdowns.

The passing game has played second fiddle to the running game all season but quarterbacks Trent Jones and Micheal Ketchmark have been sharp and efficient with their passes. Both have a completion percentage over 60-percent and neither has thrown an interception all season. Jones has 343 yards and four touchdowns while Ketchmark has thrown for 165 yards and no scores.

The Wildcats defense will have its hands full dealing with Berkner's dual threat quarterback, Yedidiah Louis, who has thrown for 227 yards and four touchdowns and also run for 754 yards and seven touchdowns. The Rams' running back, Fred White, is another threat to deal with. He has run for 214 yards and two touchdowns on the season.

The Wildcats will play as the visitors for this game, so fans will want to enter on the visitors' side. Kickoff for the game is at 7:30 p.m.
