Lake Highlands Wrestlers competed at Grapevine Duals last weekend (1/6-7). The competition was tough against several state ranked opponents from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Oregon and New Mexico. The LHHS Wrestlers placed high enough in their first round pool to compete in the Championship bracket but did not end up placing at the tournament.

Daniel Kidd 7-0
Angel Hernandez 6-1
Ty Meara 6-1

Last night the LHHS Wrestler hosted their final home dual of the wrestling season.

The dual was a nail biter with the final match determining the winning team and giving the LHHS the win 32-30 over Carrolton Creekview. The highlight matches of the night were Angel Hernandez at 126 defeating a state ranked wrestler and John Allen, the final match of the night, whose win put LHHS over the top for the win!

 

 

 

 

This weekend (1/14) the Wildcat Wrestlers travel to Klein High School in Houston to compete at the State Dual tournament. All the top Texas teams will be there and the competition will be tough. Go Cats!

2 Hard days of wrestling for the LHHS Wrestlers this weekend in Anadarko, OK. As a point of reference, at the 2 day state tournament the maximum number of matches is 5. On Friday and Saturday at the Anadarko Christmas Classic our guys competed in an average of 8 matches across the 2 day tournament. The results were equally impressive.

LHHS Wrestlers finished 3rd as a team from the pack of 11 teams mainly from Oklahoma (one other from Texas). There were several top 4 finishers:

  

 Daniel Kidd placing 1st @ 120 lbs

 

 Angel Hernandez placing 3rd @ 132 lbs

   

 Colt Brock placing 3rd @ 182 lbs

 Ty Meara placing 3rd @ 195 lbs

   

Andrew Nixon placing 4th@113

 Max Hayter placing 4th @ 138 lbs

 

Dylan Ghoreishi placing 4th @ 170 lbs

 

Congrats to the team. They all fought hard and most of these matches were not easy wins.

The wrestlers take a well deserved holiday break until their next quad competition at Lake Highlands High School where they face off against Keller Central, Rockwall and Lewisville on 12/31.

Lake Highlands wrestling competed in multiple evens on 12/9 and 12/10 and swept their competition.

Friday night (12/9) LHHS Wrestling hosted Highland Park at LHHS winning a head to head  competition.

Saturday, LHHS once again won the Richardson City championship hosted at Richardson High School.

    

The two competitions provided challenges with 5 starters out for injuries but several wrestlers stepped up to the plate to ensure victory. Congrats to all the wrestlers and a special shout out to Sophomore Brendan Bouldin  and Senior Austin Maldonado.

This coming weekend LHHS Wrestling travels to Chickasha, OK to compete in the Anadarko Christmas Classic.

The Lake Highlands Wrestling team hosted their annual tournament, The Tri-State Classic. The Wildcats finished 4th out of the 14 teams that participated. 

Several Varsity wrestlers had top 4 finishes:

Seniors

Daniel Kidd finished 1st @ 120lbs

Jason Graham finished 4th @ 152lbs

John Allen finished 4th @ 285

 

Juniors

Max Hayter finished 4th @ 138

Brad Dabrowski finished 3rd @ 145

Ty Meara finished 3rd @ 195

 

The Junior Varsity team had several 1st placers: TQ Wiley, Jett Udden, Chris Thompson.

 

Congrats to all the LHHS Wrestlers on a great tournament. Next The wildcats face Highland Park at a home Dual Friday (12/9) night at LHHS and then compete as a team a the Richardson City Championship at Richardson High School on Saturday (12/10).

The LHHS Wrestling team hosted a Quad Wrestling Tournament at the Lake Highlands gym on Saturday 11/12. The teams competing were Irving, Irving Nimitz and Flower Mound Marcus.

The teams competed against one another in head to head team competition. LHHS swept their competition beating Nimitz 78-8; Irving 63-18 and Marcus 54-30.

Several wrestlers went undefeated at the Quad: Seniors Daniel Kidd, Jason Graham, Angel Hernandez, Preston Gunter; Juniors Andrew Nixon, Max Hayter,

 Colt Brock, Dylon Ghoreshi,and Ty Meara

The JV had a fantastic showing as well. Sam Bugni and Billy Brothers were undefeated for the day!

The wrestlers next tournament is this coming weekend (11/18-19) at the Warrior Invitational at Arlington Martin. Over 20 teams from across the state come to compete. Good Luck LHHS Wrestlers!

The Lake Highlands Wildcat Wrestlers squared off against a tough opponent, Arlington Martin, in their opening Wrestling Dual of the season on Tuesday 11/8. The young LHHS team faced a seasoned opponent with some national experience. LHHS lost the dual 53-13.

Standout performances of the Dual were:

Jason

 Senior Jason Graham at 152 lbs with a pin

 

Preston 

Senior Preston Gunther with a win at 160 lbs

 

Dan 2

 Senior Daniel Kidd with a major decision win at 120 lbs.

 

The JV faced off against the Martin JV team before the varsity dual. Standouts were wrestlers David Martinez, Gabe Olivio, Jesus Garcia, and Billy Brothers all with hard fought wins. A special shout out to Jesus getting a monster pin in the 3rd period
