Beginning next school year, the Lake Highlands football and basketball teams will play a new district rival as J.J. Pearce High School will be joining District 9-5A under the new University Interscholastic League (UIL) district alignment. To compensate for bringing in J.J. Pearce, Dallas Samuell High School will be dropped out of the district.

The UIL realigns its districts every two years due to changing student populations and an increase of high schools all over Texas. UIL will announce the alignment changes for other sports and activities later on in the year. To learn more about realignment and UIL, visit the UIL website.
